About the event
Ring in the Year of the Snake with an exclusive dining experience honouring Lunar New Year's rich traditions while supporting a vital local cause. On Sunday, January 19, and Monday, January 20, Heritage Restaurant and Bar will host two fundraising dinners in partnership with celebrated chefs Will Lew of Pacific Reach and Sharon Chan of MAMAintheKitchen. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and revitalizing Vancouver’s historic Chinatown along with countless generous donations from local suppliers in support of this event.
The Year of the Snake, associated with wisdom, intuition, and transformation, provides a fitting backdrop for this gathering at Heritage’s newest location at 4242 Main Street. In the spirit of celebration and giving back, guests can begin their evening at 6pm and indulge in a Chinese New Year inspired culinary journey of four-courses spanning 13 unique dishes designed to celebrate the cultural richness and culinary heritage of Lunar New Year.
The menu is a collaboration between the Heritage team, Chef Will Lew, and Chef Sharon Chan, featuring dishes that reflect their shared cultural backgrounds while highlighting sustainable, locally sourced ingredients. Each dish is thoughtfully interpreted through the chefs' unique culinary perspectives and philosophies. Inspired by a common mission to give back to the community, the menu celebrates the rich diversity of ingredients and cultures, offering an extraordinary feast that honors both tradition and innovation.
Highlights from the meal include signature dishes such as Salted Egg Yolk Crusted Pork Belly appetizer with crab salad By Chef Will and Sharon; Heritage’s handmade noodles for longevity and signature BBQ chicken (symbolizing unity); and, for dessert a trio of Sesame Balls, Mandarin Mousse with mango meringue and goji berry sponge cake, and a creatively re-interpreted Chinese New Year Traditional dessert of Nin Gou Rice Cakes for wealth and good fortune. Guests will also enjoy live performances by acclaimed local artists Marie Hui and Kristin Fung, bringing an enriching element to the festivities.
“Lunar New Year is a time to celebrate heritage, community, and generosity,” says Paul Zhang, owner of Heritage Restaurant and Bar. “We are thrilled to host an event bringing people together over incredible food and music while supporting the meaningful work of the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation.”
This limited-seating event offers a unique opportunity to embrace the spirit of the Year of the Snake while contributing to the preservation and revitalization of Chinatown. Tickets are priced at $98 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuity, with drink pairings available upon request and offered à la carte. All profits from the dinners will directly support the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation’s initiatives for cultural preservation and economic development.
